A little crispy
« on: December 11, 2010, 09:59:41 AM »
Friday's forcast was for a really good day so I hooked up and headed down to the lake.  I noticed the temp change from 36° at my house down to 31° on the way there.  I knew I was in trouble because the parking lot was half full on rigs.

As I headed around the corner to the ledgy area I planned to fish, I got to seeing boats on every bank.  My chosen area had 5 boat on it.  So I decided to head up the river and try some bluff ends.  As I headed up I ran into fog.  It was really pretty so I stopped the boat and took some pics.

I wound up fishing 5 hours and finally got onto the bank I had originally chosen.  I picked up some nice keepers off it to finish out the day.

I only caught 24 but 20 of them were nice keepers.

Buzz I was using 1/4 oz weedless heads that I make.  I was also using my do'nothins, 2" white tubes and Bobby Garland baby shads cut off on both ends.

Great Pics!  Time to break out the skillet. It's way beyond crispy here. 18 for the temp and the north wind must be  25. Brr. It was pretty close to 60 here yesterday for the high.

I made me some 1/2 oz jigs in the barn today.

It got up to 61° yesterday and is now down to 32° heading for single digits with a strong wind.  The Wman says we will have gust over 45 mph tonight.  Bad nasty wind chills.

All I did today is clean up the boat and trailer and rerig my 6 crappie setups for the next trip which I hope will be Thursday if the have the forcast anywhere near right.

And I broke out the fry daddy last night.  We were kid sitting with 7, 9, and 11 year old neighor kids while their folks had an even out.  I fed them crappie, scalloped potatoes, cold slaw and corn bread.  They ate like field hands so we went to Dairy Queen for dessert.

Glad to hear you got out.  If the weather reports are correct, we may have hard water the rest of the week.

Wind is blowing like a hurricane outside this morning  :o. Gonna be dropping temps all day and the overnight monday should get down to the low teens (maybe single digits!?) and not go above freezing for two days, with wind chills way down in the single digits. Thursday it's suppose to be near 60 for the high with less wind...come on Thursday!

I have to work out in it Monday morning for 3-4 hours. That's gonna hurt!  :tick

And I am debating going to the mailbox for the Sunday paper. :)

We are supposed to get to 4° tonight.  The winds are gusting near 45 mph with snow today.  Near 60° we won't see that until late March unless Al Gore's global warming comes by. >:D

I'm looking at Thursday for fishing depending on the wind.  Temps are supposed to be from 25° to near 40°.  By taking 6 setups I should be able to keep one ice free. ;D

I'm sure glad Todo and I don't live in Kansas.  They only have one short tree between them and the north pole.

I got out yesterday.

Wife spent all day making Christmas goodies (none of which I like) and around 2pm she tells me that the trash needs to go out. Like a good husband I dutifully obliged. When I got back in I told her not to make anymore trash! :stop

hoppy I knew you were tough.  I watched the dumpster blow out from behind the camper shed yesterday and it still is there.  I can't get Red to go set it up and take out the trash. ;D  Maybe in a day or so when the sun starts to shine again.

I didn't think the wind would ever quit blowing yesterday, or last night.  Lows tonight supposed to be 5*, and that's before th wind chill I believe.  It was -1 last night   :o .  Out of school today due to slick back roads the school buses travel.

Hats off to you and a fine salute for fishing such conditions. We had our first winter blast the week of Thanksgiving. Sometimes it's hard to acknowledge that winter still isn't here yet although it feels like it!

This whole week is supposed to be below normal temps.  I'm wanting to get back and pick some more specs off those ledges before they move.  We have freezing rain and snow predicted of and on till next week.  I sure hope it doesn't accumulate and that the water keeps soft.

It really has helped to be able to tell more about what is actually down there.   I just hope I can learn to use it for those green and brown fish next spring.

G it might be a bit inconvenient for Jig Man to take all that equipment off his boat. Why don’t we just borrow the boat and leave the stuff as is? (We can get his waypoints!) :bass >:D

Why don't you 2 honyonkers get away from the powers that be and come on over.  I'll bet I can get getfished to chauffer one of you duders while I do the other one then we can switch and you can see bird and low first hand.  Your sig others can go to Branson or LOZ and put you in hock for at least 20 years, (not counting our guide fees). ;D
