Am I crazy or does anyone else fish for catfish with ul equipment? I've caught cats up to 8lbs on 2lb test and think it's incredible fun. Cats never seem to tire out and even a 5lber on 4lb line can take 15-20 minutes to land. I haven't broken off a fish in over 20 years now fishing 2-4lb test but occasionally I'll have one work itself off the hook after fighting for a long time. A budy of mine and I fished the Ohio river from a small boat and was throwing shad flavored/scented dough into deep holes with big sinkers seeing what we could get. I hung into something that I fought for about an hour and twenty minutes before it managed to shake the hook. Only once did I get it close enough to the boat to even get a glimpse of it and it just looked like a silver flash about three feet long and then it dove again. I lost it a minute or two later.

I'm guessing from the bait, presentation, location, and one sighting that it must have been a big channel or a fair little blue, don't think it was near dark enough for a flathead.
That's my big one that got away story but I was glad there was someone else there to see it. He was also a ul fisherman and I think he was more upset when it finally shook the hook than I was.
