Anyone ever try

drop shotting for crappie.  I use to use a similiar rig for it but now I usually throw roadrunners.  I just thought if you hook a minnow to the hook it would work great for suspended crappie.

Sure haven't.  I bet it would work though.

Yeah,..it works pretty well with a little 2' FIN-S fISH (Lunker City).  Just find them and drop it down.  Don't really even have to move it...just hold it there and you'll catch'em!  I've caught a few on a cut-down worm as well,..but the little shad-type bait works best.
If you're a fisherman, ya gotta fish!

A friend of mine loves to crappie fish, and he sometimes uses one of those 10' telescopic poles (has no reel).  Next time I see him I'll ask him what he rigs it with for bait.

I tore em up down the lake near the end of January, over a hundred of them in one day, a little red/chartre. tube jig on a slip bobber, every cast for a few hours, I couldn't believe it, went back the next day and caught 30 in an hour, went back the next day and there wasn't any they dissappeared. :shrug

Live bait on a drop shot works for all panfish! Besides the 2" Fin S Fish, I use a small crappie tube and glue the noses of both using Pro Soft glue. You can work the rig verically or drag the sinker toward you with twitching pauses ever so often, after a long cast to shallow water areas. I ran into a school of 10" bass last year that clobbered the rig using crappie style baits.

I've done it but it's not my favorite method.  I tend to only do it when the fishing is really slow.

No     My favorite way to crappie fish is with a 1 inch. tube jig, blue/white -  red/white -

Black/white - solid white  for some reason the 1 inch size is important, I have fished
11/2 sizes with a freind of mine and he out fish me 4 to 1 , I switch to 1 inch size a
we were equal, but this is for our proticular lake might not be the same every where.

We fish the tube jig under a strik indicator that is weighted so it is cast able.
