Chub in America ?.....
« on: October 14, 2007, 01:37:15 PM »
Hi ...

I was wondering if you catch Chub over in America ? ..

My cousin Rob caught a fantastic 7lb 2oz Chub on the River Wye (Wales) last weekend. The fish raised huge interest on the forums here in the UK.

Details of the Chub can be seen on Robs fishing blog at http://www.artfulangler.co.uk/.

I imagine the rivers over in the states would be ideal for Chub and Barbel and give you some great sport .... but I am not sure if they have ever been introduced over there ? .......

Regards

Matt

If you're a fisherman, ya gotta fish!

you mix the wheaties and strawberry soda together and mix well to make a dough ball

then you put it on a hook

as it dries it becomes rubbery on the hook

the strawberry soda draws by smell

a lot of fish like it because of the grains and sugars

it works quiet well
Ive caught cat,carp,gar,

We have carp aslo,Mostly what you call grass carp(suppose to be vegetarians) I've had decent luck with acorns(if you beat the deers & squirrels & coons) to them.

we have grass carp here as well as 3 or 4 other species of carp

they do put up a big fight

try using whole kernel corn

toss a couple hand fulls out in about 3 to 4 ft of watter
it draws them in

drop your line in the middle of the corn with corn on your hook

Ive pulled in 50 to 70 pounders that way

its a great way to pass time when nothing else is biting

Hi...

Thanks for your comments there. Thats interesting.

We have plenty of Carp over in the UK. Chub (i think) are actually related to Grass Carp. They are very similiar in appearance except for the eyes which on a grass carp are a little lower.

Do you have barbel over in the states ? they provide some fantastic sport here. Weights go upto 20lb. They are river fish and thrive in fast flowing rivers with gravelly bottoms. Very powerful fish.
