Drop-shotting
« on: February 10, 2007, 09:58:14 AM »
Watching the fellows on ESPN2 at Elite (Table Rock, re-run), and they're drop-shotting quite a bit. I might try that this year, even though it makes me crazy to drop a line in the water and just sit there without retrieveing for awhile.

Hey! I was watching the same show :o I have drop-shotted before and it can be very effective. I did it two different ways, I did it the traditional style by dropping it directly below the boat and also by casting it up to shallow (1' - 2') water. It worked both ways. ;)

Sounds like a plan. I'll try it both ways   :)

I sure wish they'd return to the full Bass Saturday format, or at least a good portion of it.

I usually cast the line like Carter said. Slow retrieve and just keep shaking the rod tip.

It?s true; great minds think alike! I watched it also. Why? Because it cold out there.
I tried drop-shotting one time and caught one fish. After watching this show I think I know a couple of places to try this again.

I watched the same show this morning. I guess the next thing to fishing, is watching it. Never tried drop-shotting, but it may be worth a try this year.

I sure do miss those "good" fishing shows too. Y'all ever watch Debra Johanson when her show was on the Outdoor Channel? She mostly fished Canadian water but it was still good.

My wife bought me a DVD player for Christmas but I don?t have any DVD?s! I have been thinking about buying that Classic Patterns collection. That might help me get through some of these depressing winter days!

On the show, they were drop-shotting for deep fish, so that's why it was a vertical presentation.  Like Carter said, there is no reason why you can't cast and retrieve a drop-shot rig, especially in shallower water.  It works great.

Pondhopper...Fishing DVD's get me through the winter.  The "Classic Patterns" collection is great.  Look at Bass Pro for some great DVD's too, especially by KVD.

That's right Mike. Too many people get caught up in convention. You need to mix things up a bit at times and be a little unconventional.  ;)

Wow. We don't get fishing shows around here anymore, that I have time to watch and are even on in the prime-time time frame. Suuure wish we had more of them like we use to, man! did we use to have'um...even some neighboring locals shows.

I did buy a DVD of KVD a few years back. Pretty good too! Which reminds me ...

and for the drop-shot...I wouldn't even know how to tie one on ??? I may try it sometime or another though.
