Are we as fisherman making it to complicated with all the different tackle we have.

Isn"t there a simpler way to fish and catch fish.

What do you think....?????

George, sometimes I think some of us make too complicated. I for example, probably bring too mant rods. I usually end up using only maybe three of them. I have a large tackle bag which I overfill and pobably could not tell you everything that is in it. I tell myself I need to downscale my operations but I really like having my stuff. I actually think I doo better when my choices are limited to just a few different types of baits and say three rods. ::)

Well if I wasnt tourney fishing, more than likely all I would bring would be a reel, rod, cork, and some minnows.

When I was little I used a cane pole and worms that I dug in the back yard.  I never targeted any certain fish, but as far as numbers go I probably caught about the same per year as I do now.  Do we need all the tackle to fish, no, but it makes it more fun. ;)

A simpler way? Sure. 1 spinning rod and a worm. That's all you need to catch fish. But what would we spend all our money on if we just fished nightcrawlers?

Dang!! You guys caught me. I truely am the baitmonkey. I hide in your closet every night and wait for you to fall asleep then whisper your newest purchase in your ear like a sweet lullaby. I weave the promise of huge bass into your dreams if you just buy that one last rod, reel, soft plastic ect..  ;D

I believe that we make it way too complicated!   The last few years,..I've refined my gear to just the stuff that I use!  Every winter now, I go through it all and get rid of the stuff that I haven't used.
For instance, I fish jigs a lot,...but I've narrowed down the selection of the ones that I bring to black ones, brown/green ones and white ones....and  I only carry 2 sizes,.. 1/2 ounce and 1-ounce.

I fish senkos/knock-offs,..but I only turn to those when the bite is tough,..so now I only carry 4" ones,...and only two colors!  Black and green pumpkin!

Etc. etc.

The last few tournies that I've been in,..I did pretty poorly.  Thinking about it afterward,..I believe it's because in the tournies I kept trying different baits looking for that magic one,..rather than just concentrating on fishing my normal stuff!
If you're a fisherman, ya gotta fish!
