« on: May 08, 2006, 07:44:28 AM »
So what is everyone catching this time of year? Where are the good places to go around west palm beach? I've been fishing Okeehelee park and it has been good. The lake they stock with fish I have never caught anything though. Thanks guys....

The canals in your area appear to be brackish but I hear they offer some good fishing. There is also the Glades. If you don't have a boat there are places along Alligator Alley for example, where you can park and fish off the bank. They even have boat ramps. In the more remote areas I would watch out for gators. I counted 93 of them on the north side of the Alley and I was driving.  :o

I was watching, "The Professionals" on The Outdoor Channel last night. They were fishing a canal in south Florida and using what looked like a Rattletrap with a single hook. They were fishing for Peacocks and catching some nice ones. Another bait I have seen used for those bass was a clown colored Zara Spook.

There is a canal behind the apartments by me that feeds the lake that I generally fish. I may try that this week. There are lil pads and trees.

I am really likeing the soft jerk baits I want to buy more. It was a lot of fun. I am also getting a few hard plastic top water poppers, crankbait and some shallow cranks. But the soft plastic is the most fun for me. I wish I could find all my baits I left at my moms house.

If no one has mentioned it yet, checkout Joe's selection of Shakit's, Zipit's, and Beavit's.  His link is near the top of the home page.  You'll like 'em   :)

More than anything else, use what you are confident with.  :)
