Frosty start
« on: November 28, 2011, 11:35:19 PM »
It was 21 crispy degrees this morning.  Ron came over today about 8:30 to pick up some insulation I was giving him for his barn. I told him to bring a rod and we could fish so he wouldn't have to make the trip just for that. We got on the water about 10:00 and the temp had jumped up to 34. No wind and bright blue skies. I was surprised to see the water temps had dipped to 41. OUCH ! Made sure I didn't have to go after a rod today. We caught about 35 crappie today and 12 were keepers. Only trouble is my fillet knife is in Nashville.  :P

Steve your weather is supposed to be here tomorrow.  I may try specs at Stockton since they have left the laydowns at the Rock and they seem to be suspended in broken off trees (impossible for my skill level).  I'm hoping they are on the ledges.

Good one Scott. ;)

I think I got a shot at it tomorrow if it aint too windy. After that we got a strong dose of nasty weather coming from the Rockies. Not good. I do have an anchor I may take tomorrow. I hate using an anchor to stay on em in the wind because my anchor donating ratio is too high.  I don't have much invested in this particular anchor so we'll see.

Get, here's an idea for you: Find some old window sash weights that someone is getting rid of. They make great anchors and if you lose one it won't cost you anything.

I only found 7 specs on the ledges in the Little Sac.  I also found a walleye, 3 whites and 9 blacks.  They were all between 31 and 32 feet deep right smack on the bottom.

That's a pretty good outing there Jig Man. I finally made it out after getting stood up for the second time in a row for an appointment to show the house.  >:(    It was windy and I had to stand on the pedal constantly. I brought home  4 specs.
How much weight are you using JigMan to get em that deep. Mine were only 14' . I used an 1/8 but in the morning I'm gonna try to get by with a 1/16 before the wind comes up.

I use a 1/4 most of the time but when we get real deep I go to 3/8 and sometimes 1/2.  One winter we caught them at 71' at Pom.  You could barely get a 1/2 down and work it.
