Got in a couple of hours yesterday
« on: May 21, 2006, 09:22:57 AM »
The wife and I put the rods and tackle in the truck yesterday and ventured to the local city park lake for a couple of hours.  I got a nibble but no catches. My wife caught a bluegill about the size of my hand.  Not even the turtles were biting yesterday   :shrug .  Had the entire place to ourselves except for one fellow in a jon boat, who I didn't see pull anything in either.

We did however get a chance to meet the local Fish & Wildlife Officer. Young fellow who lives here and has quite a large area to take care of.  He's the only F&W Officer for this county, which really surprised me, as I figured there was a larger contingent to care of the area.  Had his Lab with him, who is a rescue trained dog, and he's pretty friendly also.  He told us his biggest problem is youngsters (teenagers) trespassing on private property.  He'll be out this upcoming Memorial Day weekend on the water which will prove to be a busy weekend for him.  I did get his business card and we're going to set a date for next year so he can come and talk to my students one day.  He also told us of a couple of local places within short driving distance we haven't been where the fish should be biting.   :)

WW, I haven?t kept any ?official? count here but it does seem that the wife is getting ahead of you!  :scratch

These F&W guys have to love their jobs. They do have a lot of territory to cover and they work most weekends and Holidays. Funny thing; I do a lot of fishing in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky and have been check in every state but Kentucky. Guess I look like a ?Home Boy? to the Kentucky agents.

Crankbait,
Yep, good memories and information about places to fish.   :)

pondhopper,
She always outfishes me   ::) .  Funny thing, the F & W fellow didn't ask to see our licenses either, but we did volunteer to show him, which he replied with a thank you.   :) .  I wouldn't want their territory to cover either.  He said he'll be on a portion of the Green River with another fellow during the holiday weekend.  At least they double them up on the boat, which I think is a good/safe practice.
