Bigfoot called at 8:12 this morning and asked me if I could be at Hoods truck stop in 30 minutes. I had listened to the weather and knew that today would be the only chance to fish so I had packed my gear last night just in case.
When we met it was 34° and cloudy. When we got to the lake at 10:00 it was 34° with fog and a light mist. The mist stopped and a little snow fell while we were on the water. The wind whipped up from the NW and caused us to duck behind some bluffs so we could feel the 35-40' deep bite.
We only fished 2 places but managed to get both our limits of keeper black and white specs with 12 throw backs. We also caught some black bass, white bass and walleye. He got his limit a few minutes before I did so he went to the back of the boat and had a snack while I finished out mine. As soon as I had my 15th keeper in the well he said, "I'll put out the fire and you call the dogs." We got close to 60 fish in the 4 hours that we were there and it was still 34° when we left the lake.
Red couldn't believe that I actually got home before dark. At least I had time to clean the crappie and walleye while it was still light.
