Had some fun today
« on: September 21, 2008, 11:00:23 PM »
60 bluegills and one keeper size yellow perch(my first perch) in 3 hours.

Went back out to this lake i've been favoring the past 2 weeks now and just hammered them on a UL rig  with a bobber and some night crawlers. I've been trying to catch some perch and walleye out of there and i succeeded on the perch catch.

I had no intention of bringing any fish home today so i filled somebody else bucket with bluegills... ;D i caught my 25 fish and told them sorry i can't give you guys anymore. They understood and were thankful for what i did catch them.

However i figured out a pattern for this spot....if the water is high bluegills are nowhere to be found but bass and pikes bite,if water is low bluegills are abundant, but bass and pikes are hiding.

Sounds like you have been having a good time fishing. Any size to the bluegills?

Nope, most of them are going 4-6" with a rare 10" catch.

My last bluegill trip i went with a buddy of mine who can't seem to catch anything.Between the both of us we pulled in well over 150 that day.He ended up catching a 12".

I caught 2 of them which seemed like a pike tried to get a hold.Nasty looking scars from their belly to tail.

Also caught some 8" blue back solid bright sliver fish with orange bottom anal fins.Everybody keeps telling me it's a perch...I'm not so sure it was.It looked like a hugh shad or something to me. It was incredible fat....
