Yup, me too. Matter of fact I just recently pulled over and cut the tail from a roadkill and tied myself a couple of fresh ones.

I have a feeling the hair rig may be something a bit different though.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.

Chalk up another hair jigger (at times).

I use to tie some with two varmints intertwined. :)

sorry lads.i.ve just took half hour to describe this method and for some reason it did,nt post.please bear with me and i,ll post a sketch of the method asap,i need my mate to show me how to do this (not very good with technology). the hair rig is basically mounting your bait on a very short length of line(about 2 inches)  OFF your hook,so the bait is not actually on the hook!!!! this enables the bait to lie very naturally on the river or lake bed ,the fish will pick your bait up with greater confidence so the bites are pretty vicious .believe me this method is well worth trying and the results could be spectacular,we do very well using meat baits(spam)in 1 inch cubes or fish pieces should work well, please be patient and i,ll come back to this topic very shortly with some drawings. speak to you soon.

Blumack, I have noticed this myself ...When someone posts at the same time you do, one of the posts will not post sometimes. When it happened to me, I was instructed to read the red text up near the top of the posting page which says "Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post". When it does that, scroll down the page, see the new post, check to see if yours is still there and then re-post it, by way of the "post" button.

I have gotten into the habit of "copying" what's in my posts just for that reason, in case something happens for some unseen reason. If it does walk you all the way out of the page or back out of it yourself, you can then make your way right back to the post box. If you "copy" the original contents of your post, you can then "paste" it in there and go again.

Hope this helps and sorry it did that....it very well may have been me because I had just posted.

sorry about the delay for those still interested in the hair rig set up,i,ve decided to try to explain it fully,(so follow carefully)!! firstly, cut a length of line (approx 20 inches) ,tie a very small loop to one end of this length, take the other end and thread this through the BACK of the eye  of your hook, pull this through till your loop is approx 1 inch from the bend of the hook,THEN wrap the line about 7 times aroundthe shank of the hook(working towards the bend of the hook, and at the same time trapping the hair),finally take the end and thread it once more through the BACK of the hook and pull tight, if you have done this correctly you should have a 18inch length of line with your hook firmly attached and a 1 inch hair with your VERY small loop on the end!! this is called the knotless knot, hair rig set up.....next, you need to tie a swivel on the opposite end to your hook. when you have your rod set up to fish take your mainline and thread a weight onto the line then tie the mainline to the other end of the swivel.this all sounds complex but it honestly is,nt and your catch rate could go through the roof, mine certainly did!!! To attach your bait you,ll need a baiting needle,i dont know if you can get them in the states so a thin piece of wire would do,you need to push this through your bait then hook the hair rig loop and pull it through the bait, place a piece of grass or twig through the loop to hold the bait in place and away you go. if anyone want me to send them a baiting needle p.m me and i will post them one. good luck and please let me know how you get on.all the best BLUEMACK
