Hell Hole Reservoir Tips?
« on: August 16, 2006, 03:20:23 PM »
Hi all,

I've been lurking here for a while. Finally submitting my first post. :D

I'm going to Hell Hole Reservoir in a couple weeks and could use some tips. I've googled the subject already so I'm looking for folks who have been there. Specifically what type of lures you were using and the best spots for trolling and or shorefishing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Titelinez

Thanks for the welcome!! This reservoir is located in California. It's west of Lake Tahoe. Northeast from Auburn.

I have worked in a couple of those places; never had the opportunity to fish in one.
Welcome.

Howdy Titelinez and welcome aboard! Been there? ...me neither. However, I did google it ;D and came up with no bass. But if your going for the trouts use nightcrawlers under a bobber at the thermocline, or TROLL!

Good luck and titeli ....ah, you know the rest!  :)

That lake must be a good trout fishery.  All I can find is pics of trout and generic lake maps.  I found a reports page but it said coming soon :scratch

Thanks for looking. Ya, I already googled for it. People suggest trolling 30-50 feet with flatfish, plugs, kastmasters and the like. Of course nightcrawlers too. We have a downrigger so we should do ok. I was just hoping for somebody who had actually been there and had first hand knowledge of the area. But frankly I'm kinda happy nobody has been there. Probably means I will have most of the lake to myself. It is not an easily accesible lake, but is surrounded by easier to get to lakes.

I know....no bass :-\ That's ok. I bass fish all the time. I like going for other fish every once in a while. This lake has kokanee salmon, mackinaw trout and brown trout. Should make for some good eating.  ;D

I wish we had fish like that around here close.  I would fish for them too.  Nothing wrong with it.  Good luck and bring back some pictures.

Speaking of trouts...someone recently caught one at Tannyhill state park here in Bama that supposedly broke the state record. Of course, I have no clue what our state record trout weighed either :D.

Not sure it's exactly close to me. 5+ hours is quite a trek but well worth it to get away from the normal hubbub of people I usually have to fish with.

here is a pic to tide you over. I found it on an off road site

I'll make sure to bring my camera and take lots of pics.
