The Alabama state record Bowfin was just caught out of my home lake last year.

I want to beat it!   Got any Bowfin (Grinnel as we call it) tips??

I have several favorite lures for targeting big Bowfins ... one would be a 10" black worm Texas rigged and thrown into the sloppiest muck you can find and the other is a red Nemire spoon w/ a 6" strip of fresh fish atttached ... fish it slow and have your net handy cause you are not gonna want to lip it to bring it on board ... I would suggest at least 30# braid and at least a medium heavy action rod ... 18 lbs of bowfin is a lot of mean fish to handle ... good luck Jack ...
