The weatherman always gets it wrong and keeps his job. I called the COE for the lake I wanted to fish today and either talked to a ranger or the project boss, not sure.
I asked about the lake and he said it was clear, the roads were clear and all the ramps were clear. Well we got there this morning to find the cove frozen over and the ramp slick, (the ramp road on the other side of the penninsula was closed because of ice), but the lake looked open so we broke the ice with the boat and trailer.
The ice was thicker than we thought and we tore a couple of guides off Bigfoot's trailer. I had to use 4X4 to get back up the ramp. When I got in the boat it wouldn't back through the ice. We had to use a net handle and break the ice so we could turn the boat around.
When we got to clear water we could see all the way to the COE office and that whole end of the lake was solid ice. What must he have been thinking when we talked

We were limited to 2 banks and they weren't very productive, (2 specs and 3 spots).
Anyone know of a good GOVT. job that I could get?
