I had the best pre-father?s day gift. I took my kids fishing for trout and decided to make some inline spinners for myself.

So we get to our favorite place and my daughter opted to use her Barbie pole instead of her baitcast rig.  She also chose the inline spinner she wanted to use and I tied it on for her.  I proceeded to set up my UL rig, an Okuma with an Abu G Cardinal 101 for my son (he?s only 22 months but he likes to hold fishing rods) and before I could even finish my palomar knot, my daughter has a very nice fish on.  It also happened to be the biggest trout I had ever seen in person and it looked to be the biggest she ever caught.

She fought the fish quite well and in due time I was able to net it for her.  I couldn?t believe I was ?Iaconelli-ing? it.  I mean, WOW!  A nice trout, caught on a homemade lure and to sweeten the pot, it was caught by my little girl.  I have become familiar with the smile that usually comes across her face after a catch but the smile she had this time was the biggest I had ever seen.

Here is a close up.  The trout wiggled enough to throw the spinner before I could remove it from its mouth

This is a testament to the power of this fish and the strength of its fight.  As you can see, the beads are no longer in alignment with the rest of the spinner?s body.

The trout measured 21 inches, which is not half bad.

Then, with my UL rig she caught another one with another spinner and that trout measure 19?

All I can say is that I was and I am a very proud dad.  She also told me that she thinks she?s ready to catch her first bass.  What do you guys think?
