« on: December 04, 2009, 06:08:08 PM »
over here in england we have various methods of fishing,as i,m sure you people do.we have lure fishing for pike, perch and zander.ledgering(bottom fishing) for pretty well anything roach, chub, tench, eels, perch ,barbel, bream and carp. then we have float fishing wich will also catch all of the fish mentioned. could someone tell me what different methods you use over there and to what species they apply to. have to tell you i am only familiar with freshwater fishing. thanks.

Many of the folks on this great site usually target bass most of the time. Some will fish for other species, but bass takes the cake.

Perhaps the biggest difference is that by preference and choice, when we target bass, many of us use artificial baits over live or dead bait.

We use items like crankbaits, topwater plugs (eg, poppers, propeller baits) jigs (hook with a weighted head), a wide variety of soft plastics, inline spinners, spinnerbaits, and spoons are perhaps the most common.

Many of these lure types are also universal and by that I mean they will catch bass and many other species too, like trout, crappie, walleye, and even tilapia.

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I think the choice to use artificial lures might have something to do with the satisfaction yielded from fooling the fish to eat something that is not a part of its diet.

Welcome.

Blumack, some of the methods we use are: Texas-rigged soft plastics, Carolina-rigged baits, Drop-shotting and different ways of retrieving jigs, crankbaits and spinnerbaits. These are just a few methods but pretty effective when going after our favorite species, the black bass (largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass).  :)

hi f ren, thanks a lot for that they certainly have a fantastic range of lures and the prices are unbelievable,i used to buy the super shad raps but the prices over here are ridiculous, converting our pounds into dollars(to save you guys working it out) i was paying about 28 to 30 dollars for 1 lure if you lost one(as i often did)it was quite annoying so i switched to soft lures but even these are about 8 to 10 dollars!!!!! i really fancy the spiderwire invisi line,it looks very impressive,i,ve never seen this stuff over here. thanks again f ren ;)
