I've created a few logs over a long period of time. I did one in the "Works" program on my computer(one of my old computers that I only had for less than 2 years). I created a "detailed" form that I filled out on every outing. The form was linked to a table and the table was linked of course to a spread sheet and so on and so on.

When It VANISHED from my computer one day  :oI realized I had lost 11 years worth of "HIGHLY detailed" information. Unfortunately, this was before I discovered "BACK UP". ::2 Too, I had never even put it onto a floppy(which was all there was then, other than the hard drives) Since then, I've not had time to rebuild one, but I have been thinking about it lately, or just buying a program to do it.

Ouch!  11 yrs of info gone had to hurt.    I made the list mostly to keep track of how often I went fishing and if I caught anything.  I don't vary my bait/lure much so wasn't worried about that, and as far as the weather conditions......................if it isn't nice I don't go, lol.   :)

Hey WW, I fished with a fellow in the state T btw that absolutely loves his carrot stix.  Funny thing, he wasn't using them in the T. I guess he didn't want to travel with them. After all he was a non-boater from LA (that being Lower Alabama). He did mention cramming a bunch of stuff in a pickup with three other club members and came up to fish so ...

Yes sir it hurt!  If in due time you decide to extend the information that you collect, long term, by ALL MEANS, save it and BACK IT UP!(Just emphasizing not holler'n)

Im pretty mucha "fair weather fisherman" myself WW ;D I use to "work" the fronts to the wire pretty regluarly until one day we like to have been sucked out of the back of a creek one Sunday morning back in the early 90's. It was close enough to see the water being sucked out of the back of the creek. You could see the black funnel clearly coming through the woods. Anyway, I didn't mean to get off on that subject... :moon (shake, shake, shake) :whew

I'd probably leave my carrot at home too, lol.

That is cool, WW. Just wondering if you also keep information such as weather conditions, temps, and the lures used.

I have been wanting to keep a log myself as a more formal means of keeping data vs. writing a story about as I usually have done.

You certainly did better than I did in 2008.

I've got voicenotes on my cell phone.  If I catch more than 1 or 2 I use the cell phone to record the details.  When I get home I just play them back and write down what is recorded.

Nah, like I said if the weather is crappy, I don't go, and I pretty much use the same lures (mostly plastics), which is probably why my catch ratio is pitiful, lol.
