No luck tonight
« on: August 15, 2006, 09:29:24 PM »
Well, the wife and I went back to our local lake to try our luck again.  Got there at 5:45pm and left at 8:30pm.  I had one small bass bite but it got off the hook about 3' from the bank.  Wife hooked a small bluegill which also freed itself near the bank   ::) .

Here are the baits/lures I tried over the course of the evening (varied retrieve speeds and fan-casting different locations from the bank):

Listed in random order
-Shakit (black w/blue flake).  hooked the bass on that one    :)
-Culprit 7.5" crawdad worm
-Buzzbait (chartruese/white skirt)
-Riverside 8" worm
-Beavit (redbug)
-ZipIt (blue w/silver flake)
-Riverside 5" senko look-alike
-Rattl-Trap
-Heddon Tiny Torpedo

Lots of people there and no one was catching a thing.  Had a storm come through last night so maybe that had something to do with the lack of bites.  Oh well, the weather was nice and we were outside   :)

WW I?m not sure what you folks go down your way but that was one heck of a storm that came through here Tuesday morning. Heavy rain and lightning that lasted for about ? hour. According to my farmer buddy we are now around 8? ahead of normal rainfall for the year.
I?m headed for Audubon this morning. I have lot?s of ?things? to get done today so it will be a short trip. Tomorrow we are heading up to Bluegrass FWA in Indiana.
I might even get time to post some pic?s (if I can ever figure out how to do it!) Be ready for another phone call.  :scratch

Scott,
Mostly rain and lots of lightning!  Wind didn't get too bad this time   :whew .  Good luck on the fishing.  Are you talking about Audubon Park in Henderson?  If so, didn't know there was fishing there.  Boat or bank?

GMAN,
Hopefully next time   :)

WW, yes the state park and by boat. Being a nature preserve the banks are tough to get around, but that is where all the wood cover came from. One of my most common snags is other peoples fishing line!

I took the boat over to Guist Creek Lake yesreday afternoon, when I finished cutting the grass. I caught one keeper-size bass, a short one and a bluegill. They all came on a black with red flake Berkley Gulp turtleback worm. It was nice getting out.
