SPECulatin'
« on: November 07, 2010, 09:17:39 AM »
Bigfoot and I both have structure scan now.  He has a Bird and I have a Low.  We alternated boats on a camping trip and scanned for brush containing crappie.  I was amazed at how many wpts we were able to set and how many specs we actually caught out of them.

One day we were scanning a bluff looking for fish in brush and noticed itty bitty white spots on the sice scan which looked to be 10' or so deep and we saw no fish in the brush like they had been the day before.  We put on baits with 1/16 oz heads and cast them toward the bank.   All we did was hold the rod still and watch the line and or feel for a bite.  Well those spots were specs.  We caught about 60 that morning with 40 of them keepers.

I'm starting to get the hang of the scan but the learning curve is very large.

Here is a three scan view of one of the fish holding piles.  On the right I am not sure which object is the one seen in the first two but I think it is the blue one.  I have it on another site for the experts to examine.  I'll post back up when they tell me.

Well the big dogs agree that it is the blue area and the red is just shad.
