The winter patters seems to be here.
« on: December 08, 2011, 10:14:23 PM »
I took BIGT with me today looking for specs.  They were at the same depth as last Thursday.  He had never done this type of fishing before and was excited to get there.

We wound up catching 30 crappie 26 of them were keepers.  We caught 12 walleye but only 2 measured.  We had 3 white bass and 2 blacks.  It was cold but the wind was light.  We are supposed to go back on Sunday.

You guys had a good day. Are they hitting the bait with authority ? 95% of my fish the last 2 outings seemed to be coming up from below and just sucking it in. You wouldn't feel anything, not even your 1/8 or 1/16 oz. jig. That's when you'd know you had one. It was a little tricky.

I use braid with a fluro leader and rarely get the bait over 1' off the bottom.  I also prefer fairly stiff rods for the 1/4 oz which we are using.  Most of our bites are with authority, however, with mono it would not feel like the sharp smack we mostly get with the braid.

I took BigT again today.  We had 26 big keeper specs and 3 keeper eyes among our 42 fish.  They are moving a bit deeper today some were 26 and some 30' as compared to 23' 3 days ago.
