Tough bite today
« on: December 16, 2009, 09:26:47 PM »
Post frontal conditions prevailed today with highs in the upper 30s and a start of 19°.  The next 5 days are going to be worse so Bigfoot and I decided to hit the water while we could.

We have been getting there around 10 and limiting out by 2:30.  Today we got on the water at 8:30 and quit at 4:15.  We managed 2 blacks, 3 whites, 12 walleye and 40 crappie.  However, those specs were hard to come by and several were short.  I only had 8 keepers and he had his limit.

They hadn't moved but the good ones had lockjaw.

Sounds like a god day of fishing to me. Any size to the walleye?

We haven't had any sizeable walleye so far.  I don't know much about them but have the idea that they are 5-10' deeper than we are fishing.  I'm going tomorrow and taking Bear with me.  We may try deeper than the specs are hanging to see if any larger eyes are around.
