Tried weightless yesterday
« on: September 27, 2006, 06:15:44 AM »
Well, decided to try a new bait yesterday.  Bought a pack of Wave Worm 5" Tiki Sticks (Christmas Tree color).  T-rigged it weightless and tossed it out, working it slowly.  Got a bite about the 3rd cast, hooking a nice spot.  Got him to the water's edge, brought him up and he was covered in weeds, so...........I did something dumb;  thought I'd dip him in the water to get the weeds off, but the second he touched the water he wiggled-off the hook   ::).  Oh well, at least I caught one, and just one.

That Christmas Tree color is a good color around grass.
Last year my buddy in Illinois found some at WallyWorld and he caught the fire out of some bass. He told me and another guy about them so we looked in our local stores and they didn?t carry that color. We had to have our ?contact? in Illinois buy them for us, so from now on we will know them as Illinois baits!
After that big front pushed thru last night the bite may be off for a couple of days. Just as well; I have to work this weekend.  :puke

:)  Went back to city park lake yesterday after work and caught another nice spot (guesstimating about 1.5 lbs) on the Smoke Shad 5" Tiki Stick.  Again, the only bite I got, but it was fun pulling him through the weeds.  Wife caught a small bass (about 8" long) on a nightcrawler again.
