WANTED...........Dead!
« on: June 18, 2009, 10:29:07 AM »
My Daughter caught this ugly critter a couple of days ago in a lake near our house. It's called a "Walking Catfish". It's an invasive species, introduced to Florida from Thailand back in the early 60's, for the aquarium trade. They have taken over Florida's waterways. They're everywhere. They actually "walk" out of the water onto dry land, searching for food and more suitable habitat. They are inedible to most sane people. Their meat is blood red. They are so ugly that I'm sure that their Mamas don't love them. I threw this one clear up by the road, and within about 10 minutes, he had made his way back to the lake. I've decided that the next one we catch will have to "sleepwalk", if he's to escape.

Yikes! I have never seen a creature like that! Have you guys heard about the invasive snakehead fish from Asia? I heard they will try and eat small pups and animals and can live for days out of water if their gills are kept moist

I don't know about that, but you don't want to know what it could do to a bass.
