White Bass and Bull shoals
« on: June 02, 2010, 11:52:03 AM »
Ok guys,  I need some pointers on this one.  I'll probably mostly be fishing in the morning and evening looking for schools.  So school me on this one. 8)

I assume that you will be on the lower end like you were last year.

I haven't cruised for them in several years because of the hit and miss nature of the activity and the cost of fuel.  They can surface anywhere at anytime. However, they are more likely to come up at dawn or close to it and be gone by 9:00 or come up in the last hour of daylight.  Be sure to keep you speed to 30 mph and under or you won't be able to see them until you are already past.  Cruise up and down the lake going in and out of coves and creeks.

There are some BS guides who visit Phil Lilly's Ozark Anglers web site.  You might get some info from them about whether or not surfacing is going on or call the nearest marina to where you will be staying.

There are lots of baits that you can use but I recommend that you get some 1/16 oz jig heads and slider grubs.  Bite the first 3 rings off the grub and glue it to the jig head with super glue gel.

Thanks Jigman,  I'll be in Oakland marine.  Last time I was there the cove I was in had them most of the time.  I'll see if I can find some slyders.
