I tolerate the guy but he reallyneeds to quit yelling.  I think that the ESPN camera men are issued ear plugs when they go on Ikes boat. :D

If, as has been said, his antics are attracting young people to this sport then I think we are trying to attract the wrong kind of people! I have seen televised shots of him running his boat close to other fishermen at high speeds; cussing and throwing temper tantrums; and more or less acting like a spoiled brat. I am not denying his abilities, but if we are teaching our young people that this is ?proper? behavior we had all best watch our backsides when on the water!

Not a big fan, but since I only have basic cable now, I don't have to worry about it, LOL

He's a good fisherman but last sat I believe he was having a hard time and doing alot of cuzzing which could have done without and I can do without the holloring and screaming

I have nothing against him, but I think he has gotten a little too WWF in the past 3 years.  Before the Classic win he was a lot quieter.

The whole "Ike" act has made him a boatload of money though.

Can't say that I would tolerate him at all.
Reguardless of his ability, he would be swimmin from my boat first time he started
his over-exagerated antics. (Being I don't own my own boat yet, I will just dream of a quick shove and listen for that yelling splash, lol) Might be funny the first time but, it has grown old      Fast..

As far as the cussing, he is not the only one....ESPN just made it part of his act. I like Ike, and yelling is nothing new to me. Let me put a lunker in the boat and see if I don't yell. Nothing wrong with it in my book, just part of the game.

Any of y'all remember how NASCAR started fining the drivers for their language?  I predict that it's on it's way for the pro fishermen   ;)

I wasent a fan until I read his book.  After that I became one. I think he is good for fishing. A little over the top sometimes. But you cant ask someone to stop being themselves because they dont act like everybody else.

Can I change my answer?   ::)  Does anyone want that kind of loudness when trying to relax
and have a nice quite time fishing? Maybe it's an act or something but that kind of stuff
doesn't interest me at all. It's kind of like a loud obnoxious tv commerical, you're glad when
it's over. If he truely does get that excited over catching a  2 lb. bass  he is surely 'quick at the draw'
which is a real downer for him I guess.  :) ;) :D ;D ::)

It's not as if he peed overboard or spit at someone! He showed that he was human and frustrated with the situation, for which he was super-hyped, going into. This little spanking probably did him some good.

Senkosam,
I hope your right in that maybe he learned something from this outburst; hopefully BASS did also.
I am of the belief that he has been allowed to go way out of bounds with his behavior and I hope that BASS and ESPN draw the line and say ?No more?.
To be fair, I believe that other anglers are heading out of bounds with some of their behavior and language. Someone crowding another fisherman?s spot or being bleeped for cussing a ?f-ing? broken line is not conducive to the growth of this sport. Maybe BASS should follow the NASCAR lead again and start imposing stiff fines!

Ranger drops Ike 2/28/2006
Ranger Boats has dropped its sponsorship of Mike Iaconelli based on his behavior at the recent Bassmaster Classic. Here's the statement from Ranger president Randy Hopper.

"Based on a series of events that occurred during the recent Bassmaster Classic competition, Ranger Boats is withdrawing its sponsorship and affiliation with Mike Iaconelli. We do not believe that Mike's conduct during the tournament appropriately represents the deep-seated values on which our company was built and continues to operate.

"Ranger further acknowledges Iaconelli's impressive angling achievements as well as his commitment to promoting the sport of fishing. His efforts to encourage others through the platform of fishing are a credit to his many accomplishments. While we regret his actions leading to this decision, we wish Mike well in future ventures."

> During day 2 of the Bassmaster Classic, Berkley issued a statement stating Iaconelli would remain a Berkley pro-staff member. BassFan is awaiting comment from Iaconelli's other sponsors.

Now, the question is, will this wake him up and get him to address what he's been doing?
