8/30 & 8/31 CT stripers
« on: August 31, 2008, 08:05:44 PM »
Bluebird skies and I suspected some tough bass fishing,..so I took the kayak and decided to head to the salty-side on Sat afternoon/evening.  Picked up 3 small stripers in a 2 hours.  A pretty fun time with some great wether to be out on the water.   Went back for round 2 on sunday,...ended  up with 5 stripers in a couple of hours this time.    Two were pretty small,..two were 20-25' and the best of the day was this one,..barely legal (28" and about 9 lbs), but I'll take it since it was my first ever kayak keeper!

What part of CT are you in?  I got a 52 incher off the jetty in Hammonassett Park almost 20 years ago.  Great area for Bluefish and Stripers!

Not too far from there!  I live in Old Saybrook,...that's the Saybrook town beach in the background! 8)

Awesome area.  In my younger years I used to do some carpentry work in that area.  I joined the military in 89' and moved away for good.  I have a sister that still lives in Guilford.

Nice catchin' J4f!  What are the two wheel lookin' thingies sticking-up behind you in the Yak?  Some sort of transport device for the Yak ?

yes it is WW, ...If you zoom to 400  ;D ...you will see a nice purty axle and a set of what looks like gold lookin bubble wheels. I said bubble wheels, not Bubba wheels.

Nice stripper(Line), J4!

That looks like a homemade/converted pier rig(upside down, bobbed off, and strapped in) if you zoom back in at 400 again, WW.

 ;D

I know the feller catches some big fish WHERE EVER he goes!

Yes, the wheels are a cart of sorts that is specially made for my kayak,..it plugs into some holes on the bottom of my yak and allows me to pull it over land.  It is the only way I could get it from my Jeep down to the water,.. since even empty, the hull still weighs 70#! :o

Be careful out there. You might catch something big enough that can tow you out to sea :o ;D
