One more time!
« on: August 02, 2009, 11:05:45 AM »
Got tired of catching a bunch of small bass the last few outings,..so I headed to the salt this morning searching for something that would put a little more bend in my rod!   When I got out to my favorite rock-pile there were already 2 kayakers plus a guy and what looked like his son,..in a bay-boat trolling live bunker back and forth over the reef!!  ::)
The other yaker's gave up and left pretty quickly, but i fished for about an hour without a bite and watched as the live-bait guys caught a few!! (durn cheaters!!!):tick :tick

Just when I was about to give up and go search for a new spot,..I had a beauty come up and blast my jerkbait on the surface!!  Right after the initial explosion, it came completely out of the water twice more before it got down to bull-dogging,...and then was nice enough to tow me out away from the rocks about 60 yards before finally giving up!  ;D  It measured 37" and about 20#,...really a fun fish to catch!  After I teathered it to the yak,..I fished for a little while longer, catching a couple more schoolies (15-20") before calling it a morning after the sun broke through the clouds and sent everything deep! 8)

If you're a fisherman, ya gotta fish!

Dang, that's a nice one!   8) .  I'm sure it's a different feeling when they break the surface and you're right on the surface with them in the yak.   :)

Awesome fish , but that boat is to small for me I would be swimming if I was in it.

That is a nice fish. I like fishing saltwater. Never know what you'll catch. At least I don't.
