Curado 100 Green
« on: July 16, 2010, 08:59:23 AM »
I have found a curado 100 the green sparkle one in 3.8 ratio.  Can I buy a new gear and switch it to 5.3?

Thanks

G you should be able to.  I did it with a 3.8:1 size 200 Curado.  Bob at PBS catalog outlet rod and reel repair may have a set or maybe can get a set.

I think its a D but not sure,  I'll have to find out more.

I dont see why I couldnt either.  I'm sure its only one gear.

gears from different sets are different sizes and the tooth cut & pitch are also different so, you'll def. need a pinion gear and a drive gear.....also, you will need a drag washer and a key washer.

it is not difficult to change them out once you have all the parts. and, in a curado, a new gear set feels like new money!  ;D

The operative word in my post was SET ,like Ian stated, not just one part.  I only changed the drive and pinion gears.  It cost me #30.

Doesn't anyone like the 3.8/1 anymore ?  No deep crankers out there?

I've got a Shimano Bantam that I think is 3.8 and works very good.  I also use some Ambassador 321 and 521 reels and I believe they are 5 something to 1.

We never offered the 100 in 3.8:1. They were 6.2:1 only. You can use the 5:1 gear set from the Calais 200-5 to change the ratio. In the 200B38 (3.8:1) you can change to 5:1 or 6.2:1. You will need the gear set, drag plate, drag washer and yoke to make the conversion.
