New 2010 rod additions
« on: January 05, 2010, 11:17:12 AM »
I am pleased to announce that we will be releasing the new Cumulus rods this week. I have been working with the rod development manager for over a year on these rods. These are the lightest and most sensitive rods we have ever produced.

http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/rods/freshwater/cumulus.html

As soon as I have all the pricing and specs I will post it here.

They fish like nothing else I have ever used before. I could feel everything in 50+ feet using 5# FC line. I think I could feel bass looking at my worm  :D

Thanks, Dan. I just came across this. With all the rave reviews on the Cumara Series, it amazes me at how Shimano would top that line.

They look awesome. So is that Cumulous with a chance of meatballs?  ;D

lol I didn't pick the name. Cumulus clouds are heavier than other clouds so that is a little ironic. The prototype names for the rods were "Lighter than Cumara". I nicknamed one the "Snoopy Rod" because of the appearence. It didn't look anything like Snoopy, but it just looked like a kids combo rod to me.

We took the prototype rods to Dream lake in Alabama last year for a dealer fishing event. When we showed some dealers the rods they heard me call that one particular model the Snoopy rod. The name stuck and dealers were asking to fish with the Snoopy rods all week  :D  We would have had a hard time trying to use that name for the rods.

Cool.   Dream Lake is just down the interstate a bit from me, I've only been there once though.   If your ever down this way again give me a holler.

Jack-

I would love to go back to DL. The decision is up to someone else unfortunately. It was great for field testing and for dealer events like we had. Fishing was excellent even on the "tough" days. I had fun busting out the secret So-Cal baits with dealers when the fishing was tough. They thought it was a joke until I put over 30 fish in the boat in less than an hour every afternoon  ;D The owners of the lake are great people too. If you go over there say hello to Chad and Paul for me!

GMAN-

The snoopy pole is no longer on loaner list. It's priceless to me now and the only one of it's kind.

Paul is trying to sell the place.  He's only wanting a couple million.  Maybe we should all pitch in and by it :)

Really? His house is on the one lake and I would never see him giving that up.
