Didn't have the you-know-what to go out fishing today like some others. Too brrrrr, so here's what I did instead.

Some initial observations of my new GLoomisman made jigs that were waiting for me in my mailbox last night:

Granted I haven't fished them yet, but as soon as I saw them I knew I'd enjoy it and wanted to squawk about what I see spread around my dining room table?until ?somebody? yells at me that is.

Shipping was fast, nicely priced and very well packaged for mailing. Each jig was in its own little zip bag, and the bags even have that hole at the top for hanging. All were wrapped inside of a big bubble bag and then sent using a bubble bag mailer which arrived still well sealed and intact.

Attention to detail is the first thing that showed off. The paint job is well done. Eyes are not clogged so I don't have to clean them out before tying one on. The coating is even with no signs of drips or runs, and no voids. The colors match the skirts very well.

I got both single and multi-colored, all are ? oz. The mixed colored skirts are nicely accented and the glittered strands when used are not overbearing and add that subtle touch.

Hey sometimes you gotta be destructive to test something out so I reluctantly and randomly chose one of the nine in front of me and went at it with my game-face on. Here?s what I got:

The EWG hook is very sharp and made of a solid gage wire that springs back nicely into shape when flexed. I honestly don?t know how hard or how much actual ?weight? I was putting on it, but I gave it repeated tugs and gotta tell you I wasn?t worried about ruining or breaking this one (poor thing) so when I say tug...I mean really tugged and pulled.

Although the hook recoiled back into place I wanted to be sure so I compared it to one that I hadn?t messed with. There ended up being enough of a difference between the two that I could see a change, but without comparing them I hadn?t noticed it. If I had to guess using the protractor in my head the overall deflection was around 1-2 degrees. Without getting into some serious geometry/math and other stuff I know nothing about I couldn?t tell you where exactly the angle change originated, but there?s no difference in the angle of the main shaft, meaning the deflection is somewhere in the radii. The overall shape is unchanged enough that I will certainly still use it unless what I did next ruined it. 

Yanked at, twisted, bent all around and tugged the weed guard. No strands came out.

Pulled on the rubber skirt strands. None came out from behind the band holder. I snapped one or two of the thinner ones when pulled individually trying to get them to pull through the band. Not enough broke off to keep me from tying it on soon.

Tried to use my thumbnail to scrape off the paint to no avail. It's well cured and well bonded even around the weaker points like were the weedguard goes into the head.

I can?t call myself a ?jig fisherman?, and don?t claim to know much about them, but I really like what I see and think these are definitely worth checking out.

Compared to some of the mass produced jigs out there the price is hard to beat. These are homemade and obviously done with care and a desire to do a great job. I can?t wait to get them wet.

I got a few of G's Jigs too and they are very nice, Nice report Duster, right on the money. Good workmanship G!

I have the same mold that Gman uses poison mine is the smaller sizes (1/8, 1/4,3,8 sizes) and I really like them haven't caught anything on them yet but have had strikes on them plus not really used them much yet. I'd believe you will like it.

Well, I just love to add fuel to the fire! 

I too received some jigs from GL and was very impressed with how they looked.  My daughter thought they looked great too and even took a couple.

I was fortunate to give them a try along with Joe's trailers.

The great weather we had here in the Seattle area took a turn for the cold on opening day (Saturday) and it really turned off the bass.

I tried drop shotting, a crankbait, my lucky craft jerkbait and even a popper and the best I could do was coax some smaller bass to follow the jig and trailer. NONE of the other tactics got that much attention.

So kudos Joe and GL! Their two items in tandem were the only thing that allowed me to even see a bass (in person) the other day since October of last year.

I'm just going to have to experiment and work on my jig technique (what little I have of it  ) for the rest of the season.
