Sounds like you didn't put a backing of mono on your spool before putting on the braid. Before spooling up with the braid, you have to tie on some monofilament and spool up enough to cover the bottom of the spool barrel (10 yards or so). Then tie the braid on to the monofilament with a uni to uni knot, then spool on your braid. Without a backing, the braid will not adhere to bottom of the spool barrel and will cause the whole spool of braid to slip almost like you have no drag. It's a must.
