quantum hot sauce!
« on: December 18, 2008, 10:19:55 AM »
so, i finally broke down and bought some of this stuff. it is pricey, but dang, it is amazing. great stuff!! i have since 'hot sauced' 3 of my reels and plan on doing the rest. the viscosity is very low yet it sticks very well to the reel internal parts. so, i get very high speed and performance with out having to relube very often like i would with other low viscosity lubes.

I've used it for a few years and I like it.  No complaints here.

I've heard good stuff on rocket fuel.  Never used it though.

I've been meaning to get some Quantum Hot Sauce, but haven't done so yet.  Definitely have to do it though.

I've heard the hot sauce was pretty good stuff!  ;D I have used singer sewing machine oil before but it's hard to get now days and is the reason I've stuck with the Abu oil. The rocket fuel reel oils I heard were good also.

yeah gman, rocket fuel is on my list. may be soon i'll try it; heard many good things about it.

hey WW, you can get the hot sauce pretty cheap at ebay.
check this out:

i opened the spool bearings on my alphas, zillion, and curado. cleaned all the old lube out and relubed w/a few drops of hot sauce oil...and holy crap. the zillion, inparticular, spins so fast now that when you do the ole' 'test the spool spin' thing it almost has a gyroscopic feel......incredible

the ONLY other oil/grease i'll use besides ardent reel butter and hot sauce is the abu grease(w/the exception of drag lube).
it (the abu stuff) is pretty nice and doesnt gum up or get 'tacky'. it has a higher viscosity that the hot sauce but i think quality wise it's pretty close; just not as 'fast'

really, what you use for lubrication can make ALL the difference in the world when it comes to both the life of your reel and certainly the performance. cheap lubes gum up badly in the reel and are worse to hold dirt and other solid particles.

Ive used the Quantum hot sauce since it came out and love the stuff. I clean and relube mine every year and all my buddies and familys stuff and they all love it to. I keep a couple bottles around all the time(cause I forget where I  had it and bought more) I even used it on my nephews pine wood derby car and it worked great.

hey george, the reel butter works pretty well for spinning reels, though i prefer abu garcia grease for them. for a casting reel, it is hard to beat the hot sauce. it is pricey, but well worth it.
