I use line butter and bearing lube by Ardent  but is there something better, Let me know what you use for your reel maintainence and which reel you use it on

GMAN:
that oil is suppose to be real good.  I've never used it.  I've used hotsauce but looking for something better.

I've also heard Rocket oil is real good too.

cutbait88:
i like hot sauce but ive heard if u use it u gotta break the reel down and get it all out if u decide to switch to something else or it will gum up the reel

Jig Man:
The best thing out there is Ebassfisher.  He is on this site and can do wonders for reels.  I have sent him some and am perfectly happy with the results.

any time you switch lubricants you need to clean the reel completely. different greases use different fillers that don't often get along. as for oils, they often contain different additives that sometimes do not mix well for the long term. also, any time you relube a reel, it should be cleaned thoroughly because of the debris that gets in the reel over time.

as far as hotsauce goes, i really like the grease. it seems to be, by far, the most stable when it comes to temperature effect on consistency. many greases will thicken, or even coagulate badly when exposed to cold. for oil, i prefer daiwa reel oil; it is light (low visc.) and lsts well.
