Super tuned Curado
« on: September 01, 2009, 07:32:58 PM »
You were right on target Ian!

Folks, I had an old first years green Curado' bearings replaced which was roughly ten years old or more, with lots of boat rash and wear/tear. I was reluctant to have it so called "super-tuned" because I thought it didn't need it, so I just had the bearing upgrade done. The result was, It threw great initially but quickly got worse. I was shocked. I thought the problem was in those new bearings. So I called and discussed it with Ian and taking into consideration how old it was and and the wear and tear it had ....we agreed it needed a shot at being super-tuned, so I took it back to him. Hahahaha! I am tickled how smooth it is again now and it casts really great for it to be as old and beat up as it was. was.

Thanks Ian! See you soon!

i'm hoping the whole internal polishing thing(i.e. super tuning) takes off a little more. i really belive that it works well.....

No more than I know about it, I averaged 34' longer casts on my old green Curados after I did them.  But what you did cleaning them up and upgrading the bearings did a bunch more.

i like the smoothness obtained by the polishing. i don't really know if it make a difference in distance because i always suggest spool bearing upgrades.
