Tired of those old dirty rod handles?
« on: February 21, 2009, 09:22:33 AM »
I hate all the goo that gets on them so I tried BPS rod wraps.  They still had to be brushed and cleaned so I decided to try something else.  It has been several months and I really like what I have they are color coded and just a wet cloth cleans them brand spankin' new.

So what exactly are they?  I use Rod Wraps on all of mine and like them, but the tacky wears off after a while.

I have seen people using colored 3M Vetwrap.  Thought about trying it.

Jack it is shrink tubing.  Here are better pics.  The black I like best and comes from Harbor Freight Tools.  Red wanted some colored stuff on her setups so I ordered from http://heatshrinktubing.net/.

Looks good!    I know ReelGrip has come out with a line of handle grips, but I'm sure they're costly.

I had a bad habit of the handle slipping out of my hand on hook sets.  I guess the way I hold it or something, so I use the Rod grips just for the tackiness, and of course I like the pretty colors :)

I guess I need to get some of that spray like I used to use on my gloves when I played ball and keep some in my boat when the tacky wears off.

After using the grips it feels awkward without them.  Same goes for the reel handle grips.

Plus I leave all the plastic shrink wrap that come on the handles from the store on, and cover over it, so when I take the rod wrap off they still look brand new.

Rod tap, bag of chips, hook line to bike or other moving object so they think they have a big fish...
