There are people who actually, on purpose, go out in the cold weather and fish!?   :o

Just kidding, lol.   :) .   I don't have a clue about ice fishing gear, but someone on here should be able to provide some insight.

The cold ain't to bad. Its that dang -30 degrees below zero with an added wind chill that I don't like. We sometimes burn $30 worth of fuel a day just to stay warm during the worst week or so of winter. For the most part its usually a good $15 to $20 once it gets into the 30's. Some days it hits 40 degrees and with the proper gear you can stay warm all day well still managing to kill dozens of cold beers. Me personally, I can't ice fish for crap. But I know of several baitshops that fill up with locals that love it. They get their ice shanties and beer and sausages going and a radio or small battery operated tv and they are set for a weekend. I just want to get some of their beer money to stock my own fridge in my warm house with a large tv well eating fish sticks. I just bid on some beads to make a novelty lure. Once I get a few made I'll post them. You guys are gonna laugh when you see these ones. Swizzle

I know a bunch of folks that are avid ice-fishermen,....99 % of them use live bait (mainly shiners) that time of year regardles of what they use during the soft-water season!
If you're a fisherman, ya gotta fish!

Take the handles of silverware and make some tiny little jigging spoons.
