? for the lead pourers out there...
« on: January 13, 2007, 05:11:07 PM »
I'm biting the bullet and starting to pour my own jigs to go with my plastics. I like the looks of the poison tail jig. My question is what melter are you guys using? I was looking at the Lee Production Pot IV but it says it's good for jigs up to 1/2 oz. Could I pour bigger jigs with it or should I look at a different pot?

I have the 20lb production pot. Use to use a palmer melter.  The palmer is nice but the 20lb production by lee saves the wrist, and is just soooo much easier.  Its worth the $.  I pour up to 1 oz poison jig heads with it no problem at all.  A guy on another forum recommended it to me over the 10 because it has more pressure since it holds more and you get a better flow and can pour more before remelting lead. If it was me go with the 20.

sounds like good advice to me. I pour by hand with a lattle and a stainless pot I made at work. I make led heads to use at the dam.
