for you jig makers
« on: July 05, 2006, 07:20:53 PM »
If you who make your own jigs and paint them with the powder paint make sure you cure them before you put the weed guard on them dumb a$$ me forgot to cure some and put the weed guards on them and then remembered I didn't cure them so I did like the paint bottle said warmed oven to 250 instead of 270 like the bottle said but the fiber guards ends kinda of spreaded out some don't like but still will work.

Done that one too,  I read the instructions and it said to turn the heat down but still did the same.  your right dont put in the weedguards.  Also punch out the eye before heating. ::)

Yea I clean out the eye as soon as I dip it in the paint so it don't have time to completely dry alot easier to clean out

well contacted stamina and they are out of the solid black silicone skirt material and the 3/16 3d molded eyes so I have to wait til they come in before they ship them I've checked Jann's craft and they don't have the 3/16 eyes and the colors on the skirts I'm just goin have to wait til they get them in for now.

I read this somewhere, and it works:pour your jigs with the weed guard in place, heat and dip in powerpaint...then using a small dowell with a smaller hole drilled in it, put the dowell over the weedguard and bake as you normally would. The wood dowell protects the fiber so it does not overheat and warp out. I bought a couple of dowels and cut / drilled them out and now I have plenty to bake a batch of jigs.
