Hook choices
« on: November 29, 2010, 10:10:39 AM »
Hey guys, Sometime in the past I came across a chart that listed many different jig molds and various hook choices that would work with each mold.  Now that I want the info I can't find it. Anyone got any suggestions where I could find something like this ?

I have no clue where/if that chart exists.  I do know if you go to barlows site it will show you alot of hooks that fit that mold.

Check the Do-it site.  They tell you what hooks work with what molds.

Is there a certain hook/ mold combo you are trying to achieve?

Steve I just tried to call you but it tells me that the number is not correct.  Do you have a new number?

Sorry for all the confusion. My friend is going to pour some walleye jigs . Not sure what his mold number is but he is trying to determine what hooks will fit that particular mold. After that he wants to compare prices for  different brands/suppliers.

We are both newbies at tackle making so it seems like we have lots of questions. I have got some assistance also at tackleunderground.  If we ever get anything done I'll post some pics. We are both trying to find a way to survive the winter. Too cold and too much time inside.   :shoothead

Most modern molds have the hook # listed on them.  If not, get the model number of the mold then look it up.  You also might take some pics of it and post them here.

Getfished.  I'd go with mustad ultra points.  Save the time and money.  Its hard to beat barlows for smaller orders.  If you have a Tax id go with shortys hooks.

I buy from shorty's without a tax #.  I just have to pay the 10% excise tax which still beats all comers.

Jigman,  Next time you need hooks let me know. I can probably get them to you cheaper.

Same for you Getfished.

Well, I just bought another 1000 a couple of weeks ago.  However, they were cheap being #4 hooks for specs.  I am experimenting on single stranded WG for them and need lots of hooks. :D
