Indiana and Willow blades
« on: July 16, 2007, 10:05:07 AM »
I've searched several sources for these blades and ever one seems to have a limited selection or they want a bunch of cash to make the ones that you want. I had one guy request a Indiana or willow blade that is green with a brass strip. I was thinking about the spike it blade dip. Maybe with a tape strip over the blade I could dip a few blades. What I'm wondering is how far does a bottle of that dip it stuff go? Its only 4oz. bottles. The blades look amazing but I wanna know what the drying time is, how long you have to dip each blade for, ect..I want to know all I can about it. Any of you guys ever use this stuff? Would it be cheaper to get plain blades and just dip them? Swizzle

All I can say about this subject is that I've dipped a few gold and silver blades and it doesn't go on like paint. Dipping them in dye is temporary at best and doesn't color them very well :bite. HTH.

They sure look perty in the pics that they show. I was hoping for a perment dye so thank you for saving me some money. I'd hate to dye a whole bunch of them only to have problems later on. I still might get some red just to dye fish hooks for some of my rigs. I thought I might save a lot of money by buying bulk unpainted blades and dipping them myself. I do have an airbrush set somewhere's around here. Maybe I should think about painting a few of my own design? I never airbrushed before so it could be interesting. Swizzle
