Injector ?
« on: April 02, 2011, 11:48:53 PM »
Hey guys, I don't know anything about pouring plastic but I got a question. Do you guys use some type of tool or instrument to inject anything into the blend of plastic ? Reason I ask is I saw some type of tool to do this and was wondering if you use them. This one was priced about $15.

Steve I really don't understand what you are wanting to know.  Can you try another approach to your question or maybe post a link to the product?  Are you possibly talking about a core shot or a swirl?

I use injectors that I make less than $1 each and injectors that I buy about $80 each.

Well, I think the injector I'm talking about is similar to the ones you make. BTW those baits will catch a lot of feesherman, not to mention the fish. Nice !
I should have taken a pic when I was over there. I'll get one but it will be another week or 10 days before I am back over there.

I've heard bad things about those plastic injectors that you buy.  TU use too or still does have a topic on them bursting and hot plastic going all over you.  I'd stick with the metal ones.

I've only had that happen a few times and none of them bad enough to call 911. ;D  I do have to keep an eye on them as the plastic tends to melt parts and you can see them get cloudy.  I just toss them and pull out another one.  The little ones cost $.69 each and the larger ones $2 before I drill out the tips and glue in some brass tubing with a compression fitting so it may add another $75 to the cost not counting the JB Weld.

I can usually get a few dozen injections out of one before it goes bad.
