Keep me from going nuts...
« on: February 01, 2011, 12:00:39 PM »
Since the weather has changed I have made over 4 dozen jig heads for my stingers and close to 300 stingers.  I have racked my brain and come up with 18 colors that I think will produce.  I'm out of ideas and it looks like I'm going to have at least a week with nothing to do.

Here's the deal.  If you make a 1 or 2 color recommendation and I think it will work, I'll make up some and if I like the way they look and want to add them to my stash, I'll send you 2 dozen of them as a color picking prize.

Here are the colors that I have so far.

Sorry guys I should have listed the colors.  I now have it corrected.

Prize or not, I don't see bubblegum. Also what about red shad or tequila sunrise and green pumpkin?

Instead of brown/chart try brown/yellow.  Yellow doesnt fade out like chart does.  It would probably work better.

G the chart has not faded out.  It is just the quality of the pic.  I could not get a good one with a flash and there was not enough light for no flash either.  Sorry for the quality.

tomatotreus    ;D  Can't do 3 colors this in an injection mold and I can only do a back or belly in advance.  It vents through the tail so that has to be one of the other colors.

I looked up teq. sunrise and I don't have the ingredients.  I have not been able to find red shad.

White (or translucent white) with sliver flake in the top 1/3rd and tail, and none in the belly portion.

I wound up doing 5 of the colors:  black/clear, junebug/red, white sliver/white, green pumpkin and pink/white.

I have Gman's and Carter's  addys but I don't think I have anyone else's.   So Steve, crab, buzz pm me yours and I'll send you your prizes as soon as mother nature cleans off the driveway.

have you ever tried putting those or a few of those on a drop shot rig?  I bet that would slay the crappies.

G I have only had the mold for a few days.  I did use the blue and white one at Bull Shoals Friday.  The sandies liked it as well as the chart/white.

I have never used drop shot for crappie.  We just cast or vertical jig brush and ledges.

I was thinking "casting to brush" on a jig head, which is a common practice for them here also.

I was also thinking a body for a scrounger jig head  :P

Here are the heads which we use depending on where, how, and for what we are fishing.  The second pic is a few of them rigged.  They tend to bunch up on a jig with a collar so I prefer the collarless jig head and superglue gel.  I also bite or cut the end off so they fit better.   I haven't split the tail on these yet but when using the Bobby Garland shad bodies I normally shorten the tail and split it.   When we are casting over and working the bait through brush we use the bitty hooks with weedguard to keep so many hangups from happening and spooking them out of the cover.

sweet thanks Jigman!!

Hopefully here soon I'll have some fish stories.  I've been thinking about fishing the creeks soon when they thaw out.
