More tube tinkering (two color)
« on: January 29, 2010, 12:41:39 PM »
I worked for quite a while this morning and made a few white/smoke tubes.  The injection process is simple but the injector maintainance is way beyond me at this time.

I usually make my own injectors and have multiples on hand so I don't worry about clogging.  With the double it is a different story.  Maybe time and some professional help will solve this problem.

Anyway here are some tubes that I made a while ago.  You will see a side, bottom and top image.

This little operation is tedious to say the least.  My initial outlay was $329.  Unless you are going to sell them, the little lady can eat out a bunch of times for that much. ;D

well,  I could borrow yours and then I wouldn't be out anything. ;D

I've been looking at bear baits molds and he has some sweet molds.   I'm considering selling some of my hand pour molds and making this investment.  I'd rather build it though.  Looks simple to make.

which injector did you order?  Could you measure the OD and ID of the tube for me?  I just talked to a machinist and its doable if I order the very tip parts.

I ordered the double injector.  The last time I talked to a machinist he was hundreds of dollars out of my reach.

I build all of my own except for this.  If you do it, send me about a 1/2 doz injectors ;D

he is a buddy that we come up with alot of ideas together on fishing stuff.

Anway,  do you think that is based off the small injector?  I'm going to order one spout but I want to get the correct one so if I want to do laminates.  Then we will build an injector around the spout. ;D

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Grim, for first tries I thought they turned out pretty good.  I'm thinking about some other laminate colors but they are hard to pour and I'm going to prolly wait for warmer weather on them.
