Newbie crankbait pics
« on: June 24, 2008, 08:46:10 PM »
Although new to the site I have enjoyed making cranks and sharing ideas with others who have the same addiction. I make mostly light and ultralite crankbaits.

Welcome fellow fisherman. Those are amazin.  Look every bit as nice (if not nicer) than store ones.  Excellent.  Do you sell any?  If so, how much???

How in the world do you cast one the size of a penny?

Thanks guys for the comments on the cranks.

JackJ, they are not cast they are wood. I use a router and a handmade pattern to cut the blanks then the router again to roundover the edges. Sanding the little buggers is where the problem comes in, nothing to hold on too.

They are works of art.  Never thought about how hard they would be to sand.   :o

Very Nice work, Whittler I think Jack  meant casting with a rod and reel, they have to be really light weight I assume ;D

Not that there is eeeven a comparison here but they remind me of the "Butter Bean" series crankbaits a bait company had/has out.

You would use a micro rig to throw them with, right?

Those baits are of excellent work, Whittler!  :banger

Sorry guys, had a senior moment there.

They cast well with spinning tackle, although I can cast an 1/8oz. bait with a baitcaster, these little guys are just too light. They will cast without much roll or tumble but a crosswind can be a little hard to deal with.

Did a few more.

You could make a miniature spreader bar and attach them all :)

John, welcome aboard but new are not a newbie by no means.   Those little baits are just perfect.   You have now given me a new challange to work on.
