Ordered some molds
« on: November 14, 2006, 07:12:23 PM »
You have to use oil based if you're adding it to the plastic while cooking. Hot plastic and water don't mix, think hot foamy mess. After the lures are cooled you can add the water based. What molds did you get Gman?

Here are a few I just finished yesterday.

Thanks fisherman, I thought that might be the deal.  I know lead and water dont mix.  Not a pretty sight

I got a beaver mold, chunk mold, frog mold like yum, stick mold.  I cant wait to get it.

In the future I want a 10" worm, and robo worm

I've got a drop shot worm that's similar to the roboworm alive shad. I just haven't poured any yet.

You'll have to let me know how that frog mold turns out. I've been eyeing one for a few weeks now.

I've been having a lot of fun with it. I only pour black because black always seems to be popular with the fish in my area. I've been adding 1/4 cup of oil based sauce to 1 cup of plastic while cooking. Seems to be enough. i can smell it on them when they are cool. After they cool I give them a light coating of the water based and a dusting of salt to keep them from sticking together. They stink good!

Why only black?

No matter what color I throw I can catch just as many on black so I kept it simple. The dropshot worms are going to be more of a bluegill color with red heads, but the trailers, worms, and beavers are all black.

I'm looking forward to seeing your lures when you get going. Stink 'em up real good with some Hawgsauce!
