Swirling senkos anyone?
« on: March 22, 2010, 02:06:14 PM »
Lots of plastic piled up on the bench and lots of moaning and growning and internet appeals for help and I think I finally have the swirl thingy down, at least for today.

The bottom 2 are remelts without adding more color so they are off white and smoke but still swirls.

No it was a lot more complicated than that.  I have been on a few web sites and gotten some good info.

would it work with chart and white?  I dont know if that color would work but it does on a spinnerbait.

I sure was. LOL

So how are you doing that if your not dumping 2 colors in at the same time?

I am using an 8 oz pyrex cup that I divided in half.  I heat up 2 colors in the micro and pour them into the cup.

I pour an itty bitty stream like half the size of a pencil lead holding the cup at least 6" above the mold.  Both sides have to have the same amount of plastic in them so the flow can be controlled.  If I pour a larger stream then I only get laminates and two pours for lams is much easier.

Like with the b/w and p/w you can actually see the colors begin to mix in the air and mix even more when they hit the top of the mold.  There is quite a bit of contamination when the pour is over so I am learning just how much plastic to use for 4 worms with minimal left over.

I'll try to do the c/w this afternoon if I get back from Roaring River in time.  I'm taking 2 Fenwick HMG rods and some chest waders to Tim's Fly Shop and putting them on consignment.

I did a couple of pours and it turned out to be a nasty light yellow.  Out in the light you could see the swirls but it needs to be more contrasting colors.

Actually, out in the sun they are a chart/white swirl but in the garage they are nasty.

I only did 4 but if I get the urge I may make some more and I'll send (GF) some but you can't use them not matter how many fish are biting on them. >:D

Sounds good to me.  As long as she is busy fishing and catching means more time on the lake and more trips!!!! 8)

You got that right . I'm trying to get Rachel in the boat more often but with her being self employed it's a challenge.
Nice baits BTW Jig Man  :)

Bass don't eat what they don't see.
