How many of you guys do this?

How are you cutting the tails and what do you use to dip the tube with?

Hi I am new to this board , I dip my own tubes , once the plastic cools down I cut the tail in half with a razor blade , then I salt the tube and cut the tentacles with shedder scissors, ( 5 blades) make sure you either put some worm oil or salt on the blades, the plastic has a dendency to stick, you can get these scissors e-bay

oh I forgot to add  I dipp my tubes with lag bolts , the ones with just 1/2" of thread then soild the rest of the way I use 1/4" or 3/8" by 4",  I made a jig with 3 to 4 bolts per holder ,  I first coat the bolts with YUM especially the threaded ends , heat the plastic to about 350 degrees and start dipping , believe it or not the tubes come off the bolts veryy easy

GMAN    I dip vertically , personnaly I have had problems with cooler temp plastic , it wants to lump up on me , so I go for hotter plastic and tip 3/4 times  (cooling down in between each dip )

Gotcha.  Makes sense to me.  I'll try it and see what happens.

Looking on ebay now for those cutters.

Thanks

PS  what do you use to dip into?  Can? Pyrex glass?

Somebody mentioned Bojon from tackle underground. I know you can buy some from him.Lurecraft.net also has those cutters.
Bearsbaits.com has the tube baits that can be injected....won't even need the cutters for his.

My friend if you make a watermelon/highlight color with black flake tube bait....I'll buy a pack of 100 from you.  ;D That color is MONEY in the waters i fish.

Grim I looked at that mold.  It is a single cavity for $100.  I think I'll stick with my method.  I sometimes use bolts like mentioned but I fiberglassed over the threads.
