What about this type of inline spinner???
« on: March 12, 2006, 03:33:30 AM »
A double-bladed inline spinner.

Earlier this evening I was assembling some inline spinners and it dawned on me to double one up. Being that my fishing career is in its youth (less than two seasons so far) I must believe that someone must have experimented with a double bladed inline spinner before and this couldn't possibly be an original thought.

So my question is, is it an effective lure or am I wasting my time and materials?

It is the second inline spinner from the top.

Any and all input is welcome. Thanks! Oh yeah. Rainbow Trout, Bass and panfish (not the big boys like salmon and steelhead) are the intended quarry.

dude, try it!!!you'd be surprised what can work sometimes.look at a buzzbait.the guy who thought of it was probably laughed at by all the fishermen he knew.yet it is one of the best big fish baits going.

Being exactly in line the front one may disturb the water enough to mess up the back one.  That's the only thing I can see that might be a  problem but it's just a guess.  Give it a shot and see what happens.

My daughter tested it for me yesterday and you are right (a minus). The action of the first blade does interfere or more accurately, influenced the spin of the rear blade.  The front blade spun at a higher rate than the rear blade, but they both spun.  A faster retrieve (like a buzzbait speed) seemed to alleviate this. It did NOT however (yee hah!), stop the trout from smashing it! As soon as they heard or felt the blades turn, the chased it in hot pursuit and struck at it agressively.  I was quite surprised because I didn't think it would work. We had up to four 15-17" trout smash it on the same retrieve. It was unbelieveable.

I was wondering why she was missing those strike until I realized I forgot to add the siwash hook. ::)

A plus is that it has excellent castibility. I think going with a smaller blade in the front and a bigger blade in the back or a thinner blade in the back like a willow might help. I also hope that the same noise will be something a bass would want to hammer too.

Anyway, I am happy to tell all of you that is works and is very effective on trout and the coolest thing is that it costs so little to build them. :)

Awsome looking inline spinners and a hook does help a little.

I like to try them on bass  with a what would I call them, treble hook with white/gold feathers on them or even solid red color trialers,  Flash tails is what they are called.

I like Chart.. and Gold blades Island and I like single blades, I can put flash tails on them for btail race
I need about 2 of each color to try out. ::2 ::2 ::2 If I get them I will not laugh

Thanks guys!

GL,

I'd be more than happy to make some of these for you, but I would like to fine tune the blade combination and definitely use bigger blades for those fish.

Crankbait,

PM me your address and I'll send you some.

Islandbass I PM you let me know if you received PM I am not sure you did.

Here is a picture of what I call flash tails and I think if you put them on your in line spinners they would catch bass.
