2011 spring catalog
« on: January 28, 2011, 07:25:27 PM »
Will someone do me a favor!?  ....Will someone look in the 2011 BPS spring catalog and see what rod company and model rod, on the bottom half of a page that says "we are bring this model rod back this year"(or something like that). The picture of the rod was a brownish goldish color cranking rod and I was thinking it was at least part fiberglass. This has been yanking at me since I saw it at a glance in someone elses catalog the other day in passing and didn't really take in the info. It may be the same blank as a broken one I have already and would love to know. Thanks!!

P.S.- I could not find it on the BPS website...may not be updated with it on there yet or somethin?

Buzz, there is a rod like that in the 2011 Master catalog on the bottom of page 87 that fits the description. It's $39.99

Silaflex
Browning Sila-Flex Rods
Classic parabolic action-great for crankbaits!
We've brought back Browning's legendary rod  from the 1960's, to the delight of many.Crafted of proprietary Hi-Density tubular fiberglass, a Sila-Flex rod is uniformly strong and flexible from butt to tip. In these days of stiff, fast- action graphite rods, many anglers who love to toss big crankbaits and heavy spoons have rediscovered the merits of this classic rod. Today's Sila-flex is true to the original : same quality blanks, same classic actions, plus Pac Bay Hialoy guides, premium cork handles, and lightweight graphite reel seats. Great for use with no-stretchbraid, too, because its flexibility allows the hook to stay put!

Is this the one?

Will you buy me one?   ;D

Get, JSB.... thaat may just be it!! Thanks guys! 39.99 is cheap enough to buy a couple  ;) (I didn't originally see the price in passing ;D) Once I get my hands on one i'll be able to tell if it's the same as I have now(the broken one) and can buy another to replace it...if that's it.

Along the way, I have found a few very good rods that were cheap. In fact my all-time favorite rod only cost 19.99 at walmart some years ago. I still have that rod today and use it every time I fish! It's a 6'6" graphite rod. It's as sensitive as any rod I have that has cost over a 100.00 dollars or more, and it's light.

Buzz,

I've got one if you want to try it out. Call me and you can take it out one day or we can just take the boat out one day and you can try it out.

If that's the rod I think it is then I did have one at one time. I think the parabolic bend would be nice as is the price.
I know what ya mean about finding a rod ya like for a steal. When I moved up here in 2002 I went in Dick's one day and they had these 6'6" graphite rods on clearance. I went over and looked at them. I didn't recognize the brand, Northeast Outfitters, but they were $19.99. I figured it seemed innocent enough so I picked up 2 of em. I'm still using them today for spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. I love em.
